10/24/2016 MDR came to the reference desk and asked to have his pencil sharpened. Well used, and dull, a yellow #2, bitten, and no eraser. I'd seen MDR arrive outside before opening time on bicycle. This was the first time, he'd asked me to sharpen his pencil. He usually uses one of the library pencil tray, stubby golf pencils or asks one of the Circ. ladies to sharpen. An hour later, he came back and asked me to resharpen his pencil, but now- though the same length-there were no bite marks and it had an eraser. Wearing a thoughtful thinking frown, MDR asked if there was a stapler he could use. I provided one and he thanked me promptly in a passing for normal manner. 15 minutes later, I roved the building expecting to see his usual crop of 3 or 4 scrap paper page writings deposited in the paper tray at the table he'd been writing at, the one next to the reading garden door, but this time, nothing- as had happened a couple weeks ago- when he'd also used the stapler. He's been wearing a magenta/purple "Mostly Mozart" T-shirt, a baseball cap, covering short but oddly cropped hair...short in some spots, thatched in others.
